Iconography Classes for all is an amazing opportunity to dive into the rich and unique form of Sacred Art that has survived throughout the two millennia of Christ's Church. All the materials and tools are provided and included on the price of the course.
You will expect the following:
Introduction, video presentation, explanation of materials
Biblical Foundations on Text and Tradition on the Theology of Iconography derived from the Incarnation — Transfiguration — Passion — Resurrection — Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Practice: strokes and lines, chromatology
Series of Icons studied and explained with variety of themes on Christology, Pneumatology, Mariology, the life of the Saints. Emphasis will be given on drawing, colouring, and composition, as well as on Theology of Light stemmed from the 7th and last Ecumenical Council. Patristic Theology up to St Gregory Pallamas on God's Essence and Energies and their implications to Iconography.

Preparation of Surface of the Icon/ Priming
Materials used
Drawing/ copying the icon on the surface
Golden leaf gilding
Writing of the Icon.
On the last week the Student Exhibition of their newly written Icons at the St Augustine's of Canterbury Church will take place.
