SUNDAY PARISH MASS - 10.00am
We are delighted with our new priest. Fr James White will be licenced as the Interim Priest in Charge of St Augustine's on the 20th of July at 5pm. You are all welcome.
Fr James's short message:
"Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
It is with a sense of great joy and honour that I look forward to joining you at St Augustine's Highgate. Here in Yorkshire, in our Gospel for this morning (John 15.1-8), we heard Jesus describe himself as the Vine, and his disciples as those branches which are grafted into the Vine. This is both a caution and an exhortation to Christians: that we can do nothing apart from Jesus, yet if we graft our lives to his, we can bear much fruit; that we must take individual responsibility for the way in which we live our lives, but that we are not alone, nor do we undertake God's mission without or apart from him. This is Good News indeed, because the challenges which Christians face today cannot be overcome by our strength alone, even though we are called to step up and do our part for the whole Body. Only together, with each other, and by God's grace, can we fulfil that vocation to which we have been called: to love God, and love one another. Thus, it is with a sense of great joy and honour that I look forward to coming to know you, to serving you and the whole community, that together we can share the Good News of Jesus Christ with all those whose lives we touch.
Yours in Christ,
James"
